WHAT IS A SUMMARY?

There are differences between a summary and a critique. Summaries are supposed to be a very short, objective, and accurate retelling of the chapter/essay/article. It should be faithful to what the author is intending the reader to understand. It is not the place to discuss your opinion/feelings/thoughts on the matter - you can save that for a critique. And even then you need to be careful. You still need to be fair to the author and represent their ideas accurately. The links provided should help you clear up the difference so that you can do better in your summaries and critiques.
