HW 2/1: Read pgs. 1-38 of textbook, intro to Chapter 3, and "Sweat, Fire, and Ethics"

-on pg. 82 of course reader (textbook) If you do not yet have course reader, print entire article, read and annotate, and complete the Rhetorical Appeals Graphic Organizer in order to analyze the argument presented within. Write a short reflection (a paragraph or two) evaluating how effective you found the argument, who you believe the intended audience is, and what the author's purpose in writing is. Answer the following questions, as well: How does Jeffcott's review of the history of clothing manufacturing and recent developments in sweatshops and trade lead persuasively to his main claim? What is that claim? How does Jeffcott establish a connection with his audience? How does he make his audience question their own motivations? What effects does Jeffcott's identifications of conflicts of interest in manufacturing companies' "codes of conduct" have on his argument?
