Hello, and welcome to my Learning Web page! Here, you can find information about all of the courses that I teach at Houston Community College. For your particular course, you will find your syllabus; all other course information can be found by logging into our Canvas page at https://hccs.instructure.com/login/ldap.

A little bit about me: Fall 2017 marks my 21st year of teaching English. I have taught a variety of courses at both the high school and college level. In Houston, I have taught in Galena Park ISD, Katy ISD, San Jacinto Community College, Lonestar College - Cy Fair, and now Houston Community College.

In class, I hold all of my students to a high standard because, as Michelle Rhee states, "Holding people to a high standard is a way of showing respect." But I also like to have fun and to allow students to work through problems and issues together, so I engage them in quite a bit of group work throughout the semester. I also teach in a three-part style: You hear the information from me, you practice the skill in groups, and you perform the skill on your own. Students in my class should be prepared to work, both in groups and individually. If you are ready for that challenge, I welcome you to join my class! I am always available for conferences during my office hours if you need help / guidance. Feel free to stop by or email me at [email protected].
