Ms. Porcynaluk has a BFA from SUNY at Buffalo with a Painting Major and an MFA from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Painting Major and Printmaking Minor.

Beginning in the academic year 2015-2016, Ms.Porcynaluk became the Chair of the Visual Arts Department for Houston Community College. The Visual Arts is part of the newly formed Visual and Performing Arts Division that offers academic college transfer courses at campuses across the HCC region. Ms. Porcynaluk's office can be found at the Fine Arts Center at the Stafford campus.

Prior to this year, Ms. Porcynaluk's teaching assignment included courses in drawing, painting and printmaking held at the newly refurbished Fine Arts Center at 9910  Cash Road, Stafford. She also coordinated student exhibitions at the Fine Arts Gallery and  curated the 2014 gallery events at the West Loop Gallery.

In a recent interview, Ms. Porcynaluk stated that two of her most exciting professional adventures were her summer of teaching Drawing in Florence,Italy in 2000, and her Sabbatical in 2007 in which she explored the non-toxic processes of solar plate etching and monoprinting. She brought those processes to her printmaking classes at HCC and her students experienced excellent results using professional water base inks, grained glass and digital manipulation of their photos and drawings.
