Rolando Reyna received a B.F.A. from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and M.F.A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as a Holderness Fellow in 2000.

Since 2000, he has been invited to provide lectures at colleges and universities including the Mid-American College Art Association Conference, and Oso Bay Biennale XX: Realism Redux! Symposium.  He has received awards and publications for his work and has been included in exhibitions at Lawndale Art Center in Houston, TX, Art Museum of South Texas, Corpus Christi, TX, The International Museum of Art and Science, McAllen, TX, Bath House Cultural Art Center, Dallas, TX, The Barrett Art Center, Poughkeepsie, NY, Joyce Gordon Gallery, Oakland, CA, Fountain Street Fine Art, Framingham, MA, Casa de Cultura, Reynosa, Mexico, Salon de Camino Real, Oaxaca City, Mexico, Human Rights Institute Gallery, at Kean University, Union, NJ, and William Jennings Gallery in New York, NY.  His work is included in private and public collections including the Mexic-Arte Museum Collection, Art Museum of South Texas, and Weatherspoon Art Museum in North Carolina.  

In 2001-2005, he served as adjunct faculty at Texas A&M University-Kingsville and coordinated the Oaxaca Study Abroad Program assigned to teach at La Universidad Automona Benito Juarez de Oaxaca La Escuela de Bellas Artes and La Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon-Centrode in Monterrey, Mexico.  In 2006, He was selected by Texas A&M University-Kingsville as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art appointed to teach undergraduate and graduate painting.  He has also taught at The University of Texas-Pan America (now University of Texas Rio Grande Valley), Coastal Bend College, and Alvin Community College.

In 2007, he relocated to join the Houston non-profit art organization, City ArtWorks.  As Program Director, he advocated and worked alongside artists, educators, and museums/art centers throughout Houston.  CA’s programs expanded to include Art After School, Summer Art Camp, Studio Art Classes across 50 public, private, and charter schools and community centers.  Additionally, CA’s community collaborations provide art classes at low income apartments as well as therapeutic art sessions for patients at Texas Children’s Hospital.  

In 2016, Reyna accepted a full-time faculty position with Houston Community College’s Center of Excellence of Visual and Performing Arts. He has formerly served on the Advisory Board for HCC’s Minority Male Initiative-Men of Honor, and Board Member for Texas Art Schools Association.

 In Spring 2022, Reyna will be teaching Drawing I, Drawing II, Art Appreciation, and Art History I.
