In addition to preparing students for seamless transfer to competitive undergraduate programs and providing exceptional career training, we engender in all students an understanding of Art and its role in all societies and serve as a resource and catalyst for collaborative projects across HCC and the community at large. Program Description:

Studio Art and Art History is the study of visual art and culture. The Associate of Art in Studio Art award prepares students for transfer to four-year institutions to complete a baccalaureate degree in art. The curriculum focuses on the examination and creation of visual artworks that are variously informed by wide-ranging concerns, including the formal elements and principles of art, religion, culture, scientific advancements, political and social issues, and personal identity. It involves instruction in art history as well as a variety of art media including design, drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, jewelry and metalsmithing, printmaking, and digital art.
