More About Me

I have a B.A. in English from the University of Houston. Before graduating from UH I also went to Strasbourg, France, for a year, where I earned a Diplome d'Etudes Francaises. My professional degree is an M.L.I.S from the University of Texas in Austin. I'm also "ABD" in Higher Education Leadership, where my research focused on transformational effects of information media.

Prior to working at HCC, I helped open the Alief/David Henington Regional Branch of Houston Public Library. I was also Assistant Director for the Brazoria County Library System. Since coming to Stafford and Southwest College I have gotten more and more interested in library instruction--that is, in helping students learn to find and use the right information to meet their particular needs. I helped establish LBRA 1191, a one-credit-hour information literacy course, at HCC. This valuable course is one of only a few of its kind in Texas.

As the Director of Library Services for Southwest College, I am working alongside the library faculty and our hard-working library assistants to promote student success through the various resources and services the library provides for faculty and students.

I am an avid participant in reading discussions.  A couple of my ongoing reading group projects are Joyce's Finnegans Wake and Hegel.
