9-6-16 I have a couple of announcements:
1. I have our first speaker on Harm Reduction on Monday Sept 12th. Tomorrow I will pass out a list for people who want to volunteer to bring a food item for bonus points. Remember the food is not mandatory I know we are all in different financial states. Also you can earn an additional 5 bonus points if you write a 5 page paper in APA style on the presenters. Papers can be a critical analysis, how the material resonated with you, your opinion of the subject before the presenters. This is less a scientific or research paper but is a subjective form of writing. My main objective is to get for students to write on a college level. I have plates, cups, and napkins from previous classes. Food or beverages are welcome
2. Our second speaker is on Sept 10 from UAHT.ORG . I will speak more over that in class
3. Even though we are not following the schedule that was in the original syllabus remember I have the right to alter dates. We are still on schedule for Exam 1 and everyone should be reading because the pace will pick up this week
4. Our third guest speaker is schedule for 10-31-16 and will be discussed later in class.

9-9-16 Attention students. Remember we will have a guest panel on Harm Reduction this Monday 9-12-16. Do not forget that you can earn bonus points for bringing in a beverage and/or food item. In preparation for the panel I would like for everyone to listen/watch the following links under the Folder labeled: Resources for Project 2

9-9-16 ATTENTION STUDENTS DUE TO CALENDAR ERRORS THE GUEST SPEAKERS WILL NOT PRESENT ON MONDAY RATHER ON OCTOBER THE 12th. If you want to bring in edibles you can and will receive credit for doing so HOWEVER remember that we have another speaker for the following week

9-26-16 1. Test 1 will be moved to Monday October 3rd.
2. I want to iterate that attendance has been low with certain exceptions. Classroom attendance and participation have a high correlation with your grade. Though I understand things happen in life low attendance will effect your grade. Remember how your overall grade is calculated:
a. Best 3 out of 4 Exams
b. Writing - Case Studies
c. Final
d. PARTICIPATION: This grade is completely subjective based on several variables: attendance, in class discussion/participation, active participation. Attendance is critical to pass this class and per HCC policy I have the authority to drop you from the class for poor attendance.
10-16-16 Attention class very important announcements
1. I emailed everyone and have only received one confirmation response. Please check your emails and sign up using the Remind App that I sent a link on regarding announcements
2. The guest panel that was scheduled for Wednesday October 19 is incorrect and has been scheduled for TOMORROW MONDAY OCT 17. If you are bringing in refreshments PLEASE EMAIL ME ASAP to have a head count to [email protected]
3. Be sure you are keeping with your assigned reading Ch 5-8 and for tomorrow chapter 17. Especially be prepared to discuss how chapter 17 is connected with the guest speakers tomorrow when we meet for lecture.
