The Houston Community College Philosophy and Humanities Conference welcomes papers in all topics of philosophy and humanities or interdisciplinary studies. Special preference will be given to papers that focus on issues related to undergraduate instruction, including but not limited to Mexican-American and Chicano studies, Africana and African-American studies, Women and Gender Studies, and pedagogy.

 

CALL FOR PAPERS

DEADLINE EXTENDED TO SEPTEMBER 15

ABSTRACTS WILL BE ACCEPTED

 

Papers must be submitted for blind review and should be no longer than 3000 words (please indicate word count at the top of the paper submission – abstract and references are not included in word count).

Abstracts can be 350-800 words long.

Presentations should be 30-35 minutes with 10-15 minute audience discussion.

Conference date: Friday, November 3, 2017 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm, and Saturday, November 4, 2017, 9:00 am- 1:00 pm.

 

Location: HCC Central Campus, 1300 Holman St., Houston, TX 77004.

There is no registration fee for this conference.

1:00-5:00  Concurrent Presentations.

5:00-6:00  Keynote Speaker: John Symons: "'Good to Know!' Norms and Methods for Critical Thinking."

6:00          Off-campus Dinner. Conversations with John Symons.
