Process Paper Rubric
This is the Rubric for the INRW 0420 Process
Definition Paper Rubric
Write a definition paper that defines an abstract from the list presented in class. This paper should be between 700-900 words. It is due October 21, 2014. All papers must be typed and turned in at the beginning of class to be accepted. Papers should meet the following criteria:
- Include an Introductory Paragraph that includes
- A Clearly stated thesis
- A definition of your abstract
- A hook to engage the reader
- 3 Body paragraphs that
- Give 3 different types of support
- Are organized by order of importance
- A conclusion paragraph that
- Sums up major points
- Does not introduce new information
- Doesn’t use “in conclusion”
- Uses clean grammar including
- The correct use of “a lot”
- Correct use of “there/they’re/their
- Uses paragraph breaks
- Avoids run on sentences
- Uses correct basic punctuation
- Doesn’t use the first person usage (“I”) outside of the introductory paragraph
- First Person is only allowed when using an anecdote*
- Stays on topic
- Has a heading that includes your professor’s name, class title, your name, date, and title of your paper.
- Is formatted in 12pt font, Times New Roman, 1.5 spacing, with 1 inch margins
