Ethical Hacking (ITSY 1491)

Welcome to Ethical Hacking where you will learn ethical use of various "white hat" cyber security control testing tools and techniques. Cybersecurity tools and techniques take place in an enclosed online sandbox environment. You will be exposed to various computer hacking skills and analyze various protective measures and their effectiveness.

Course Objectives: understand, practice and apply the following topics in real world.

  1. Compare and contrast "white hat hacking", vs "black hat hacking" and "grey hat hacking"
  2. Explore ethical hacking issues such as hacking, cyber-crime, hacktivism and cyber terrorism
  3. Analyze various recon techniques and their effectiveness
  4. Demonstrate the use of tools to escalate privileges on a remote device
  5. Compare and contrast various techniques for launching server and client-side attacks
  6. Demonstrate various web-based attacks
  7. Demonstrate the placement of a Remote Access Trojan using either an insider placement or phishing attack
  8. Demonstrate password cracking using different tools
  9. Broader fundamental knowledge domains that support advanced techniques
  10. Apply ethical theories to cybersecurity related issues
