English Composition I (Fall 2020) (ENGL 1301 [CRN 16634])

Instructor: Ioanna Panos

Textbook: Good news, you do not need a textbook for this course!  Check the e-mail I sent to your HCC account on September 17th for more details.

Canvas - Learning Management System (LMS):  We are using Canvas for your 100% asynchronous course.  The course will be live on September 21st.  Modules will be published as you need them.

LibGuide for Tutoring (also called the Online Tutoring Resource Center):  https://library.hccs.edu/tutoring. The LibGuide for online tutoring is free, and anyone can view it.  Bookmark it for this course and others at HCC.  The handouts and links have been created and found by online tutors, all of whom have teaching credentials necessary for teaching at the college.  This means, everyone has graduate degrees in their fields.  Some of them currently teach for HCC, too!  For example, I am also an online tutor and the administrator for the site.

Writing Materials:  Take whatever notes you feel will benefit you.  Usually, a few exercises require students to take pictures of their handwritten work and upload them to Canvas as image files.  Please, do not use a light color.  I do not care if you write in cursive or print.  My only concern is that we can read your writing.

HCC Student ID:  You will need this to access the library databases. Contact any HCC library about making an appointment for your student ID. Your first one is free, but you might have to pay for a replacement.
