BLUEPRINT READING FOR WELDERS (WLDG 1413)

WELDG 1413 covers concepts and fundamentals of blueprint reading. The topics covered in the course include Basic lines and views used in blueprint production, Sketching of parts and objects for fabrication, Development of notes and specifications found on blueprints, Dimensioning parts, and objects for fabrication, Development of the bill of materials, Structural Shapes, Detail Assembly, and Welding Symbols and Abbreviations.

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to read and interpret basic weldment blueprints. A weldment blueprint is the means by which communications take place between engineering, design, and fabrication, by the welder. Being able to accurately read and interpret a weldment print allows the welder to perform the task of welding, properly, and in accordance with plans.
