Introductory Biology 1 Lab Course (BIOL 1108)
This is a 1 credit hour lab course that goes along with BIOL 1308 lecture
course. You should have taken BIOL 1308 before taking BIOL 1108 or
concurrently enrolled in BIOL 1308.
I offer this course online during fall, spring and five week summer semesters.
All study tools, resources and eLabs (developed by Dr. Wagle) are delivered
through HCC Eagle Online CANVAS Learning Management System
(http://eagleonline.hccs.edu). Communication is accomplished via CANVAS
or through HCC email ([email protected]).
The syllabus posted at this site is tentative and may have to be adjusted
to reflect changes in Departmental policies. All updates will be posted in
Eagle Online that will be available on the first day of the semester.
The objective of this course is to give you an experience of lab science and
credit for a science course with lab. Selected laboratory experiments on topics
covered in the lecture course (BIOL 1308) are performed virtually using interactive
eLabs. After completing each lab exercise, you are required to complete lab
report provided in a lab manual.
You will be required to take online exams and/or in-person exams that must be taken
at HCC Testing Centers (refer to syllabus for the details).
Topics include lab safety, scientific method, basic biological chemistry, cellular
morphology, metabolism, Mendelian and molecular genetics.
