Clinical Microbiology (MLAB 2434)

Medical Laboratory Technicians must be proficient in the principles of clinical microbiology, be proficient in isolating and identifying pathogenic microorganisms. MLTs must be able to provide physicians, nurses and other health care providers with accurate information that is obtained from analyzing various specimens so that the proper diagnosis, treatment and management of infectious diseases can be accomplished. Information gained from this course by the students will be essential for successful completion of the Microbiology section of the ASCP Board of Certification exam, as well as for obtaining employment as an entry level MLT.
