Cultural Anthropology

ANTH 2351,   Cultural Anthropology

Cultural Anthropology is an introduction and survey of cultural and social anthropology.  Anthropology is intellectually and personally rewarding because it opens the world to students interested in contact with other people and cultures.  Anthropology prepares one to interpret and appreciate the diversity of cultures both within and outside American culture.  Anthropology is holistic.  In other words, anthropologists study all aspects of human culture near and far, past and present.  They are interested in both similarities and differences in people, their societies, languages and cultures.  Anthropologists study human survival strategies and how they give meaning to their life as they adapt to various environments and conditions and to the cultural forces of change.
