Topic Options for Intro to Theatre Production Concept Reports
1. A typed explanation of the plot and theme (REQUIRED!!)
2. Choose an existing theatre in which to produce your play. Who would make up the perfect audience? Explain your choices.
3. A playlist of music or sound effects to be used in your play – play some examples.
4. an ideal cast, using existing actors. You must include pictures and brief bios for the cast.
5. a monologue, memorized and performed for the class
6. a costume design, incorporating renderings or a picture collage, and explaining your choices
7. build a set model or display or make a set map, and explain
8. a prop list with pictures of the most important props
9. A poster to advertise your play or a program cover design
10. information about the author – how/why they work, their objectives, common themes
11. a projected budget, taking into account actors’ and technicians’ salaries, theatre rental, production costs
12. A lighting design, expressed in drawings or pictures, with a detailed explanation of how lights will create the right mood and environment
13. an overall concept statement, with a full explanation of your choice
14. any other suggestion that you may have IF approved IN ADVANCE by the instructor
Keep in mind that all of this will be presented to the class as well as to me; make your visual aids large enough to be seen by the entire class. You may also use a Powerpoint slideshow as your method of presentation.
