This course is an examination of clinical interviewing as a professional activity. Emphasis will be on intake interviewing, report writing and developing assessment skills as they relate to mental health. Skill development will focus on data collection of a person’s chief complaint and its origin to include a systemic evaluation of a client’s overall mental and emotional functioning. By structuring the interview this course will also examine mental status, suicide risks, special populations, multicultural and diversity issues. Collected client data and demographic information will be used to formulate a Psychosocial Assessment and Master Treatment Plan.
