Study with Tony Diaz El Libotraficante and meet the giants of Mexican American Literature, and the artists and activists shaping the modern urban experience. You will also study the classic texts of our culture-which are a big part of American History.

Introduction to Mexican American Fiction.

*Guest speakers every week ranging from literary icon Dagoberto Gilb to local legends such as Poet/Bboy Marlon “marley” Havikoro ,Joe B poet/dj from the Rebel Crew.

 

*Field trips to important cultural sites in Houston such as Casa Ramirez Folk Art Gallery, MECA, & Talent Bilingue de Houston.

 

*Screening of films that have shaped the Urban Experience such as -Blood in, Blood Out: Bound by Honor, ZOOT SUIT.

 

*You don’t need to be British to take British  literature, you don’t need to be Mexican American to take Intro to Mexican American Literature.
