OER Training Certification
Faculty who would like to teach with OER or in the Z-Degree are recommended to obtain an OER Certificate. The college does not require faculty to take this training in order to teach using OER. However, some departments may have such requirements.
Key information about the OER Certificate
1) it provides faculty with a comprehensive overview of open education, OER, copyright, and the use of online resources and course design in Canvas,
2) it introduces faculty to the resources at HCC and around the world that can enhance their use of OER, and
3) it comes with a $300 stipend for completion.
In order to receive an OER certificate, a faculty member must complete the following TLE courses first:
- TL1000, "Student Engagement (Learner-Centered) Instructional Design"
- TL1700, "Copyright Literacy in the Academic Environment"
