Welcome to my Learning Web!
I am a full-time Biology Professor teaching primarily at Central campus.
I have taught at HCC for over 27 years and served as Department Chair for 5 years.
During the past ten years I have taken credit courses in graphic design, animations (2D & 3D) and web design software. Technology has become my new passion and I use it extensively to create tools and resources for the students at HCC. I actively mentor faculty in use and organization of technology in their courses. I use Eagle Online CANVAS Learning Management System (http://eagleonline.hccs.edu) to teach traditional face-to face, as well as online (distance education) courses.
I believe in writing grants to acquire funds and develop technology to help the students financially and academically.
Some of the major grants and innovative projects that I have managed in the past are:
1.  HCC and UST Department of Education Grant (2011-2016):
A 5.9 million dollar grant to update chemistry equipment and curriculum at all HCC campuses, and sponsor Undergraduate STEM Research opportunities for HCC faculty and students in partnership with University of St. Thomas.
2.  Chancellor's Innovation Fund Award (CIFA) 2011-2012:
Developed Biology Lab Review Pages for the entire HCC district. To view the project, please go to hccs.edu/biologylabs.
3. Chancellor's Innovation Fund Award (CIFA) 2013-2014:
Designed, developed and delivered Interactive eLabs for flexible biology lab offerings.
4.  NSF STEM Scholarship Grant (2009-2013):
Provided scholarship and academic support to a selected group of students.

I manage STEM websites to keep HCC students and faculty updated on teaching and learning resources:

I have also worked on Learning Communities for Health Sciences and started Science Club @ Central.
Besides teaching, I like fishing, camping, cooking, drawing and spending time with three precious grand-kids!
